2023 was an exciting year for the AI industry. After the launch of ChatGPT in November, 2022, builders rushed to create the most amazing and novel AI products. Investors gathered to put capital behind their AI bets. Researchers pushed the boundaries of how we communicate and prompt Large Language Models (LLMs) to better respond to our requests. It’s not an overstatement to say that 2023 was the year of AI and the bells signaling the coming of an AI-native future.

2023 was also an exciting year for the Align AI Team. We’ve been extremely busy working with and learning from AI product builders, imagining what makes an AI product, really really good.

Here are some of the key things that highlighted our year that we’re so excited to share with you!

We launched impaction.ai

We built impaction.ai (later rebranded to Align AI) and started providing value to our customers. Our team has always prioritized deeply empathizing with our customers’ pain points. We know it’s harder said than done, but we’re proud that we scoped out a product that our customers were willing to pay for!

Later, we officially launched our Open Beta on Product Hunt, reaching #3 Product of the Day 🎉

We expanded our global footprint

Our team started off physically in Seoul, but we’ve always had our eyes set on the global markets. The reason, simple. We knew that the best and most thoughtful AI products were coming out from countries like the US, UK, France and more. Wherever there were AI-product being built, we wanted to be there. We opened our first global office in the Bay Area, engaging with builders on the ground.

We met a lot of people building really cool things. We even had the opportunity to share our story and vision at AI DevWorld 2023, building lifelong friendships in the process!

We re-branded to Align AI

We really like the product name we launched with, impaction.ai. However, we spent time thinking about the problem we were trying to solve, and what a world would look like once we solved this problem. This led us to imagine a world where each individual user’s experience is hyper-personalized because our product was able to help builders distill what their users want and lead to features that aligned 100% with users.

We decided that we wanted a name that would capture all this vision into one. With this in mind, Align AI was a no-brainer!

Our customers spoke, we listened

The first version of our product focused on our most powerful feature, our natural language universal search. This feature enables you to easily find the conversational data you are looking for. Engaging with customers, we received feedback that an additional dashboard feature would be necessary to lower the time taken from initial analysis to actionable insight.

In under 2 weeks, we delivered a highly insightful conversational data dashboard to our customers! Our customers spoke. We listened. We shipped!

We launched Align Consulting

We had just gotten started, customers were paying, all was good. As we spoke with more potential customers, however, we found that AI-founders were happy with a self-service product, but they wanted something more. They wanted actionable product insights delivered directly to them so that they could focus on building new features, fast!

We launched Align Consulting, the easiest and zero-effort way for builders to turn their conversational data into actionable insights. Over the course of 2-week, we received over 25 requests for early access to Align Consulting!

We expanded our team

In the beginning of the year, we started with 6 members on our team. Today, we’ve more than doubled our count. It’s not always necessary to have a big team if you’re building a big product, but every single team member we onboarded this year was worth it.

We’re proud to hold extremely high standards for those that join us. Our entire team truly believes in our mission of empowering builders to build better conversational AI products, and that’s part our commitment to our customers.

What’s coming?

As much as 2023 was an exciting year for both AI and the Align AI Team, we’re even more excited for what’s to come in 2024.
